Fairy Tail creator Hiro Mashima has announced that his shounen series Fairy Tail will resume it's anime as a "new series".
The news comes after multiple weeks of teasing from Hiro Mashima's twitter account
until today when he finally confirmed that the anime will finally end it's 3 month hiatus.
Rough Translation: A decision has been made for a new series of the Fairy Tail Anime. It is thanks to the support of many of you. Thank you.
Whilst the news in general is great for fans, the key word in the tweet "New series" may not be so great for fans loyal to the manga.
Going on break at episode 175, Fairy Tail concluded in the middle of the Magic Games Arc which has only recently finished 2 weeks ago in the manga serialisation.
Since a normal episode of an anime uses up ~3-4 chapters of it's manga (depending on the content) if Fairy Tail were to resume in the upcoming months (see below) it is highly likely that 'filler episodes' will begin broadcasting after a month or two, hence - "New series".
Whilst an air date has not been announced at this time, Fairy Tail will most likely resume airing after the current Summer Anime Season (as many time slots are already locked in by the TV broadcaster) in the line up for the Autumn Anime Season which occupy the months of September, October and November.
