There are some 'Western' cartoon series that seems to have some inspiration from their Anime or Manga counterparts. I can only come up with five, but there might be more. Below are my list.
I hope that this article can be put in the Anime section, or should it be put somewhere else?
5. Ben 10/Alien Force/Ultimate Alien/Omniverse (2008-)
Created by 'Man of Action' for the Cartoon Network. Revolves around a kid Ben Tennyson who takes possession of an Omnitrix - a watch-type device - which turns him into alien creatures. The character animations are very similar to the Japanese counterparts.
4. Generator Rex (2010-)
Also created by 'Man Of Action' for the Cartoon Network. Inspired by the comic M.Rex - short for Machina Rex. Revolves around the adventures of Rex, whose bodyparts turn into various machines.
3. Powerpuff Girls (1998-2005)
Created by Craig McCracken for the Cartoon Network, which revolves around the adventures of four Kindergarten superheroes. Episodes consist of a combo of superhero and Tokusatso fare in a humorous tone.
2. Samurai Jack (2001-2004)
Created by Genndy Tartakovsky for the Cartoon Network, which revolves around Jack, a samurai warrior aiming to travel back in time to prevent the evil Aku from taking over the world. Art-style of the episodes resemble ukiyo-e paintings. Even Aku is like the God of Evil Amatsu-Mikaboshi.
1. Teen Titans (2003-2006)
Created by Glen Murakami for Warner Bros. and based on the DC Comics of the same name. Revolves around the adventures of four teen superheroes - Raven, Starfire, Beastboy, Cyborg, and Robin. The animation is very much like Japanese anime. Even the characters reactions are inspired by the Japanese anime-style. The closest to Japanese anime yet.
What do you think? What other 'Western'-made cartoon shows look similar, or have something about them that are like the Japanese anime or manga shows and/or films?
